1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Scottish Energy Efficiency website and all services provided by Scottish Energy Efficiency, including the supply and installation of solar panels, battery storage systems, air source heat pumps, loft insulation, and energy-efficient windows. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully before proceeding.

2. Services

Scottish Energy Efficiency provides the following services across Scotland:

  • Solar panel system design and installation
  • Battery storage system supply and installation
  • Air source heat pump installation
  • Loft insulation installation
  • Energy-efficient window installation
  • Energy efficiency surveys and assessments
  • Grant and funding application assistance

All installations are carried out by MCS-certified engineers in compliance with current Scottish Building Standards and relevant industry regulations. We reserve the right to subcontract work to qualified third-party installers where necessary, while maintaining full responsibility for quality and compliance.

3. Quotes & Pricing

All quotes provided by Scottish Energy Efficiency are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. Quotes are based on information provided during the initial survey and may be revised if site conditions differ from those assessed. Our quotes include all equipment, labour, scaffolding, and VAT where applicable.

Solar panel installations benefit from zero-rated VAT under current UK legislation. Prices are fixed once a quote is accepted and a deposit has been paid, except where unforeseen structural or electrical issues are discovered during installation. In such cases, we will notify you of any additional costs before proceeding.

Finance options are available subject to credit approval through our third-party finance partners. Full terms and representative examples are provided at the point of application.

4. Installation

Installation dates are agreed upon acceptance of your quote and are subject to availability, weather conditions, and any required permissions such as Distribution Network Operator (DNO) approval. We aim to complete residential installations within the timescales outlined in your proposal, typically 1 to 3 days depending on the scope of work.

You are responsible for ensuring that our installation team has safe and clear access to the property on the agreed date. We will make every reasonable effort to minimise disruption, and all work areas will be left clean and tidy upon completion.

Upon completion, all systems are commissioned and tested. You will receive full documentation including MCS certificates, warranty details, and user guides for all installed equipment.

5. Warranties

All installations come with a 10-year workmanship warranty covering the quality of our installation work. Manufacturer warranties apply to all equipment as follows:

  • Solar panels: 25-year performance warranty
  • Inverters: 10-year manufacturer warranty
  • Battery storage (Duracell): 15-year manufacturer warranty
  • Heat pumps (Vaillant): Manufacturer warranty as specified

Warranty claims should be directed to Scottish Energy Efficiency in the first instance. We will coordinate with manufacturers on your behalf. Warranties do not cover damage caused by third-party interference, misuse, or failure to follow maintenance guidelines.

6. Cancellation

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of entering into the contract without giving any reason. To exercise this right, you must inform us by a clear statement in writing by email or post.

If installation has already commenced with your express consent during the cooling-off period, you may still cancel but will be liable for the cost of any work completed and materials used up to the point of cancellation.

Cancellations after the 14-day cooling-off period will be subject to our cancellation policy as outlined in your individual contract, which may include charges for materials ordered or work already scheduled.

7. Limitation of Liability

Scottish Energy Efficiency will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from the use of our services, including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption.

Our total liability in respect of any claim shall not exceed the total value of the contract for the services in question. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded.

Energy savings and generation estimates provided in our proposals are based on industry-standard calculations and historical data. Actual performance may vary depending on weather conditions, energy usage patterns, and system configuration. We do not guarantee specific savings figures.

8. Data Protection

We collect and process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. For full details on how we handle your personal information, please refer to our Privacy Policy. By engaging our services, you consent to the processing of your personal data as described therein.

9. Complaints

We are committed to providing the highest standard of service. If you are not satisfied with any aspect of our work, please contact us in the first instance by phone or by email at info@scottishenergyefficiency.co.uk. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 2 working days and provide a full response within 10 working days.

As a RECC-accredited company, we adhere to the Renewable Energy Consumer Code. If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may refer the matter to the RECC Independent Dispute Resolution Service. You may also contact Citizens Advice Scotland or Trading Standards Scotland for further guidance.

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

These terms were last updated in February 2026. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
